A classic Grand Tour of Italy! Have you ever dreamt of what it would be like to see ancient Rome? Explore with us thousands of years of classical history within Rome's ancient ruins. We'll take in all the famous sites of Rome: the glorious Coliseum and Pantheon, the beautiful Fountain of Trevi, the graceful Piazza Navona and the enchanting Spanish Steps, which are adjacent to one of the most exclusive shopping areas of Rome. All are a short distance from our centrally located four star hotel! We'll also view the splendor of Bernini's sculptures within the Vatican as well as touring the best of Rome's Capitoline museums.
Then it's off to Tuscany and Florence where we marvel the art of the city that cradled the Renaissance! We'll see the two beautiful main squares: The Piazza della Signoria, famous for its loggia of impressive sculptures, and the Piazza della Reppublica. Tours of the world renowned Uffizzi Gallery museum as well as the famous Bargello sculpture museum await our exploration. And no vacation to Florence would be complete without viewing the main cathedral and its accompanying baptistry. Michelangelo's David is also on the itinerary, as well as an optional trip to Pisa to view the famous leaning tower, basilica and baptistry. While in Florence we'll also have the opportunity for a side trip to beautiful and picturesque Venice, home of the gondola!

Florence and The Enchanting Hill Towns of Tuscany

Experience the Tuscan sun firsthand and find out why Florence, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra have become so world famous.
The ancient walled Tuscan city of Lucca is our first stop for 4 nights. We'll hike the city walls and explore the churches and shops of this sophisticated and graceful city. A tour of the Country Villas in the hills surrounding Lucca is also available on the itinerary! Siena's main square, often considered the most beautiful of Italy, is at our doorstep - as is Volterra, rightly world famous for its craftsmanship in alabaster. We'll have the pleasure of observing this craftsmanship in action during our stop at a sculptor's studio!
A stop at idyllic San Gimignano is a must - perched on a hilltop and graced with picturesque medieval walls and towers, it's a marvelously preserved slice of history. Also included is a wine tasting at a picturesque farmhouse, where we'll enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the undulating Tuscan landscape and have the opportunity to hike the local topography. And no Tuscany tour would be complete without a stop at a working winery to taste and experience what this region of Tuscany does best!

At Sorrento we'll have the opportunity to explore the remnants of the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum , buried in volcanic ash at the sudden eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in the year 79, preserving for centuries a fascinating glimpse of Roman daily life.
